On June 25th and 26th The Centre for Alternative Technology presented the Convergence on Zero Conference at the Baird Auditorium at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. The Conference's website describes the events of the conference:

"The Convergence on Zero conference was a great success!

One the same day as the Climate and Energy Bill was voted on in Congress and the Climate Change strategy was launched in Wales, 26 speakers from Wales, the UK and the US took to the stage at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum to stress the importance of rapid emissions reductions across all sectors.

From the First Minister Rhodri Morgan speaking on Wales' constitutional comittment to sustainability, to David Orr outlining the need for swift and concerted action on carbon emissions, the Convergence brought together environmental thinkers and doers from both sides of the Atlantic to share their visions of a post-carbon world."

CMPBS's co-directors Pliny Fisk III and Gail Vittori joined Peter Harper (Head of Research and Innovation, The Centre for Alternative Technology), David Orr (Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics, Oberlin College), Albert Bates (The Farm) and Rick Flood (Solutions in Sustainability) for the "Trajectories" session of the conference. The panelists gave short presentations of their own trajectories in the field of sustainability and answered audience questions.
