CMPBS in the News - Arc CA Design Awards Issue

CMPBS co-director Pliny Fisk contributed his insights on “Life Cycle Design/ Biophilic Design/ Carbon Balance” to a special design awards issue of arc CA, the publication of the American Institute of Architects, California Council.

Pliny’s essay is featured alongside seventeen other “Mad Scientists, Rabble Rousers, and Other Thoughtful People.” Fellow contributors include Paul Hawken, author of Blessed Unrest, The Ecology of Commerce and founder of the Natural Capital Institute; John Maeda, President of the Rhode Island School of Design; and Sim Van der Ryn, president of EcoDesignCollaborative.

Marianne Amoss, Managing Editor of Baltimore’s Urbanite Magazine interviewed CMPBS Co-Director Pliny Fisk for the magazine’s October 2009 Issue. In the article: “Keynote: The Pioneer”, Pliny discusses CMPBS’ current and past projects including solar collectors in Crystal City, Texas; the ongoing ProtoScope project; and his general approach to environmental solutions.

The Summer 2009 issue of Health Environments Research & Design Journal (HERD) features a research essay co-authored by CMPBS’s Gail Vittori. The essay, “Demystifying First-Cost Green Building Premiums in Healthcare” continues Gail’s ongoing relationship with sustainability in healthcare. Gail’s co-authors include Adele Houghton of Adele Houghton Consulting, and Robin Guenther of Perkins + Will.
